Being the Best

There was a certain point in my life where I thought that to be the best, you simply just had to beat everyone else at their own game. If there was a competition, you had to win. If there was a test, you had to be the one with the highest grade or score. But, over the summer, I watched Prime Video’s The Tomorrow War, which completely changed my view. At the beginning of the movie, Daniel Forester gives his daughter an important piece of advice about being the best: “You know what it takes to be the best? You got to say to yourself, ‘I will do what nobody else is willing to do.” After watching the movie a couple of more times, I realized that he could not have been more right.

To be the best and to “do what nobody else is willing to do,” you have to work hard...harder than everyone else. You must commit to your dreams as hard as you can. Use your talents to create something that will truly leave a mark on this world. There will be times when you fail or feel like you are not getting anywhere on your path to success. During those times, your dreams will just seem like “work,” but you must keep going. There will be people who will not believe in you, or who will stop at nothing to make sure you don’t achieve success. But, you still have to keep fighting.

As students, now is the time to strive for the best. Hard work is essential to being the best. It will be hard, but do not EVER give up. You have to commit to your dreams like no one else and fight for them like no one else. However, keep in mind, not everyone will be the best. This type of hard work is not for everyone and some will quit. Those who quit long-term truly fail. But, those who choose this life of hard work and never quit will NO DOUBT be the best one day.
